This workshop will introduce aspiring filmmakers to the fundamental concepts and practices needed to transform a script into a compelling visual narrative. By breaking down and analyzing film scenes and visual examples, participants gain a deeper understanding of how the camera is employed to tell stories, communicate emotion and develop characters and how to apply these tools to their own creative work.
Topics include:
- An overview of terms and language used in filmmaking
- Basic rules of composition
- Camera shots, angles and movement
- Script breakdowns

About the Instructor
Mark Anthony Ramitt is a Guyanese-Canadian film and TV creative. Since 2016, he has written, produced and directed eight short narrative films, as well as produced, directed and edited an anthology feature film that was distributed in 2025. Further advancing his creative filmmaking and storytelling talents through mentoring, training programs with vetted professionals such as Toronto, Ontario’s BIPOC TV and Film non-profit organization, where he was selected to participate in the 2022 Kids’ TV Animation Writing Intensive program. Mark’s 2026/2027 production slate includes picture, sound and VFX editing several scripted faith-based and Christmas holiday feature films (already produced) with an independent USA film studio that not only released Mark’s 2025 anthology feature film on several streaming platforms, but has secured worldwide distribution rights to release their upcoming 2026 Christmas holiday thriller film, Frosty Nights – Santa Fights, which Mark recently completed post-production editing.
