For the occasion of Ed Video Media Arts Centre’s 50th Birthday Party we are
featuring quite a roster of artists, depicting 50 years of media art and film. On June 21st 1976, a punk Artist-Run Centre was born.
Now we come together to celebrate generations of artists, many communities
and networks all made possible by the services Ed Video provides.

Join us to celebrate this “place”, Ed Video has created, where
artists, filmmakers, and curious minds have come together to learn,
experiment, create, and share. What began in 1976 as a bold vision for
accessible media arts has grown into one of Canada’s longest-running
artist-run centres, supporting generations of creators through
equipment access, workshops, exhibitions, screenings, mentorship, and
communities. Tonight, we celebrate not only an organization, but the
thousands of people whose creativity, labour, generosity, and
imagination have shaped Ed Video’s story.

This anniversary gathering brings together 18 artists and collectives
whose works reflect the breadth, innovation, and spirit of media arts
today.

Presented across the Guelph Youth Music Centre and Goldie Mill, the evening honours the past while looking toward the future—affirming that access to creative tools, shared knowledge, and artistic community continues to inspire new voices, new connections, and new possibilities. Thank you for celebrating with us and for helping sustain the next fifty years of media arts in our region and beyond.
