Dear members, artists, funders, and friends,
I’ve been here at Ed Video now since April of 2005. Times have been busy, challenging, and heart-warming. Of course, as with working anywhere, there have been occasional disappointments, applications rejected or fund-losing activities, but my joy is that I’ve been part of the culture here at Ed Video that puts artists first. I have thoroughly enjoyed doing that for 19 years. I’ve made great friends and played a small part in the fantastic work being done by artists and arts organizations across Canada. Working with dedicated staff and volunteers has been invigorating and the constant changes in technology have kept us all on our toes over the decades.
But it’s time now for me to take a step back. And I do so with a warm heart and a happy perspective.
In my last few months, I’ve been trying to pull Ed Video once again away from the debt abyss. The GoFundMe has been going great! Thank you all who have already given, we appreciate it so much! However, there is still more to do and we are only $2,708 away from our goal of $20,000. If there are 100 of you out there who might be able to give $27, we’d be there. I have been genuinely fortunate to make so many friends through the centre. You all have changed my life and I can’t easily express how much you mean to me. If I had to pick one thing that stands out for me, it was a meeting back in perhaps 2010 with Mary Lalonde and Carol Tinga, perhaps Marilyn Kleiber and Scott McGovern were there too. Out of that meeting came the phrase. “Art Matters Here.”
That’s not just a fundraising slogan, it’s the reality at Ed Video everyday, in everything we do. I have been very lucky to have been part of it for so long.
