About this Event
Learn to take a still photo and turn it into a 3D model using Blender.
What is camera mapping? It is rebuilding the 3D geometry of a photo and then projecting that photo texture onto the 3D geometry. It’s a cost effective and simple way to recreate a real life scene or object in 3D (AI included), and it’s a fundamental technique of modern VFX. \
After going over the beginner basics of navigation and manipulation in Blender, participants will begin the camera mapping journey which includes projecting a photo texture onto a 2D sign and mapping textures onto cuboid shaped models. Using open source program fspy, participants will then learn to perfectly calculate the camera perspective of an interior scene, import it into Blender, make the geometry of the scene, and then project the image onto the geometry to create a neat little scene!
\Participants will need a laptop, a scroll-wheel mouse and a free download of Blender. Ed Video has a limited amount of laptops available for members to use during the workshop. Please email workshops@edvideo.org if you wish to use one.
\Email workshops@edvideo.org with any questions and/or accessibility needs.
