Ed Video Media Arts Centre, a leading charitable arts organization in Guelph, ON, for 48 years, is excited to announce its relocation to Silence at 46 Essex St., effective January 1, 2025. This move represents a fresh chapter for the organization, providing us with an opportunity to be closer to downtown and collaborate with another arts organization under one roof. Silence has been incredibly welcoming, and we look forward to a partnership that will foster creativity and innovation within the arts community. We are thrilled to be moving to Silence!

While this move marks a positive step forward, we regret to inform our community that we have temporarily laid off staff from January to April 2025. The layoff will include all staff members, including myself, but this is a temporary measure. We are committed to welcoming everyone back once we receive our core funding in the spring. In the event we secure additional funding we can bring back the staff and resume our regular operations. Our funders are aware and have been supportive of our plans moving forward.

Our staff has shown immense support and understanding during this challenging time, and we are grateful for their continued dedication to our mission.

From January to April 2025, Ed Video will operate with reduced hours and a volunteer-run model. Our doors will be open Tuesdays and Fridays from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM. During this period, our President, Evan Gordon, board members, and Ed Video volunteers have also stepped up to help maintain services, including our crucial gear rentals.

In the face of these challenges, we’ve launched a GoFundMe campaign with the goal of raising $20,000. These funds will be critical in allowing us to continue offering our services and supporting the creative community in Guelph. We invite our supporters and the public to contribute to this campaign and help sustain Ed Video during this transitional period.

Please note, Ed Video will be closed from December 23, 2024, to January 20, 2025, to facilitate the move and settle into our new space.

We are incredibly excited for the future and look forward to the opportunities this new chapter brings. We greatly appreciate the ongoing support of our members, volunteers, and community.
