Ed Video needs your help. At Ed Video Media Arts Centre, we help local artists share their stories. We provide the tools and resources that make these stories possible, but without your support, these important voices may not be heard.
Stories are essential to our culture — they bring us together and reflect who we are. By helping us raise $20,000, you’ll ensure that we can continue to offer affordable and accessible video production equipment, exhibition space, and educational programs to our community and artists, enriching Canadian culture.
Your contribution will sustain Ed Video’s work and ensure that local stories have the support and space they need to thrive.
If you’re unable to donate, we’d be grateful if you could share our GoFundMe campaign across your networks.
ABOUT ED VIDEO
The “Ed” in Ed Video stands for education.
For 48 years, Ed Video Media Arts Centre has always been a vital space for creative expression, collaboration, and community in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. As a charitable artist-run centre, we support artists and communities in all aspects of media arts.
Through affordable access to video production equipment, training, skill-building programs, and exhibition space, we empower individuals to tell their stories, explore their creativity, and connect with others in meaningful ways.
We impact a wide range of artists and community members–from emerging artists, youth, filmmakers, creators, and local organizations.
At Ed Video, we help locals share local stories.
WE NEED YOUR HELP
Ongoing cuts to government funding for arts organizations have put Ed Video in a precarious financial position. We are now at a point where we will not be able to continue our work and face the possibility of closing.
We are doing everything we can to make our organization more sustainable, including relocating to a more affordable location at Silence – a community-engaged music and arts venue in Guelph, Ontario. We are thrilled about the new location!
But we need to do more. We need your help to ensure that Ed Video can make it through this transition into a new, more sustainable future, remaining a vital resource for our community moving forward.
We want to continue to provide media arts education to local artists and resources to make their projects possible.
We want to build more capacity to exhibit media arts around the city of Guelph.
We want to increase access to media art in our community by bringing a mobile gallery to schools, long-term care homes, community centers, and more. This mobile gallery will make art more accessible, breaking down barriers of location, mobility, and availability.
We want to creatively collaborate with more local organizations to strengthen the arts community through events, programming, and opportunities for local artists.
WHAT WE’VE ACHIEVED IN 2024:
- We hosted 17 workshops and provided over 100 members, artists and partner organizations with access to media arts equipment and mentorship.
- Our in-house gallery became a platform for local, national and international creators with 13 exhibitions showcasing independent media artists, filmmakers, and performers
- Over 190 equipment rentals since January 1, 2024
- We’re also proud to support the next generation of creative voices, having supported the development of six new media art projects through our in-house production grants, helping to bring new ideas to life.
- We’ve been busy fostering creativity and collaborating with other community organizations like the Guelph Jazz Festival, Guelph Film Festival, Royal City Brewing Co., and Silence, to name a few.
And much more!

OUR GOAL
