The 2025 Kenny Doren Award

The 2025 Kenny Doren Award nomination process has been begun.

This prize, which bears the name of the late Canadian media artist and composer Kenny Doren, is given to people who have made outstanding artistic contributions to media art, particularly in the field of audio.

Submit a nomination

Each year, the Kenny Doren Award Winner receives a prize of $1,200. Please provide the following to enter:

  • 1. Nominee’s name & brief biography (max. 1 page).
  • 2. Your contact information (name, phone, & email).
  • 3. An explanation (max. 1 page) detailing why the individual deserves this recognition.

Call for Nominations: 2025 Kenny Doren Award

The Kenny Doren Award recognizes an outstanding community member who has demonstrated a strong artistic practice in, or significant contribution to, media art, with an emphasis on audio. 

This annual award, presented by Ed Video, honors the spirit of Kenny Doren—a Canadian media artist and composer whose work blended musical intervention with political discourse through video and performance. His art installations, videos, and digital operas have been exhibited across Canada, China, Finland, France, and the U.S.A. 

Kenny was a dedicated advocate for artist-run centres and a cherished member of the Ed Video community.

The award includes a cash prize of $1,200 and will be presented at Ed Video’s Annual General Meeting on June 24, 2025.

Incomplete nominations will not be considered. A jury of independent media arts professionals will review all submissions.

Nominees must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person.

Self-nominations are not accepted—nominations must come from a third party.

Current Ed Video Board members and staff are not eligible.
